Politics and Culture: Waejontor

General

There are five main groups living in Waejontor: the sa'necari, the humans, the lycans, the vampires, and the nibari.

The sa'necari cult originated in Waejontor, in time the genes of the older lineages changed and they began to be born sa'necari, which made them both a cult and a race. The majority of the people of Waejontor are human, they run the businesses, occupy towns and farms. The aristocracy is entirely sa'necari. Both groups, citizenry and rulers, are patriarchal, although there is more equality between the sexes among the sa'necari than there is among the human lower classes.

Sa'necari

The sa'necari cult began when Waejontor was comprised of warring tribes. The three brothers, Brandrahoon, Isranon Dawnhand, and Waejonan, arrived among them with their companions from Imralon on the continent of Sealandia. The brothers were exhausted from fleeing the wrath of Willodarus, and required a safe place to start a new life. Possessed of great physical strength, and arcane power, long-lived compared to the tribesmyn, the three yuwenghau settled in and gradually took over the leadership of the tribes from their original leaders. Brandrahoon was interested only in expanding his arcane knowledge and Isranon wanted only to live in peace and upon discovering the lycan tribes became their benefactor and champion. Waejonan wanted to rule, and established his sa'necari cult for this purpose.

Each time his pet tribe conquered another through the arts of the sa'necari, it became a new fiefdom given to one of his supporters in the cult. The easiest direction to expand in was through the southern plains, which eventually put them at loggerheads with the five strong tribes that would eventually comprise the Sharani. With help from the god, Aroana, the Sharani united and stopped his southern advance into their lands.

The larger, stronger fiefdoms of the sa'necari evolved over the generations into baronies. The system is, superficially, feudal in nature with a king of the Waejonan lineage at the top. However, there is also a caste system based on whether or not one is born sa'necari, or made sa'necari through the rites, and how long a lineage has existed. Those whose families can trace their participation in the cult back to the time of Waejonan are the upper echelons of their society.

Humans

The Waejontori lower classes are all human. Towns elect mayors who report to the sa'necari who rules their region. They have no political power in the greater scheme of things. Villages elect a headmon.

The women of the lower classes dress in black with head scarves and are expected to show deference to all males (i.e. walking six paces behind them). They cannot be elected to office, own land in their own right, or choose who they marry.

There is very little crime in these places, because criminals are given to the overlords who then eat them.

The humans live in fear of their overlords and the other dark creatures who form their entourages.
